List of Workshops and Presenters (PDF)

We have put together an impressive lineup of keynote speakers, including internationally respected demographer Dr. Gary Gates, multicultural psychologist Dr. Beverly Greene and Richard Carlbom, who led the coalition effort to defeat the constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage in Minnesota. I am equally thrilled by the scope and depth of the workshops and seminars that we have lined up for the conference, set for Feb. 27-28 at the University of Minnesota. A sampling of these include:

  • Nursing Faculty Awareness of Transgender Health and Experience; Gay and Gray: Better Caring of LGBT Older Adults

  • Bisexuality: From Erasure and Stigma to Visibility and Resistance

  • The Effects of Prostate Cancer Treatment on Gay and Bisexual Men, their Partners and Caregivers

Once the schedule is solidified, Opportunity Conference will be packed with more than 35 breakout sessions in tracks on research data, clinical health, behavioral/mental health and policy making.

Data/Research, clinical health, behavioral/mental health, policymaking

Participants will develop strategies to:
Address health disparities based on emerging data
Improve outcomes through promising practices
Promote policy, system and environmental change
Assess current health and human service systems and environments
