Sesquicentennial Statehood Weekend Ceremony |

Statehood Weekend Event Elements will
include an exhibitor pavilion, a vintage plane flyover and the unveiling
of the Sesquicentennial stamp, entertainment and activities on the
Minnesota stage, strolling entertainment and food. The event will close with a spectacular Statehood Ceremony “Honoring Those Who Serve” (public servants, citizen volunteers, and members of our armed forces) on the steps of the State Capitol. The Statehood Ceremony will be opened by a National Guard flyover and will include the all-state choir led by Philip Brunelle, the National Guard Band and speakers that include Governor Tim Pawlenty and other dignitaries. There will also be a satellite link to our troops stationed in Iraq. The evening will conclude with a spectacular fireworks display. |

| The choir
will be singing three songs: Hail Minnesota, Shines for All to See (an
original song written for the MN Sesquicentennial by Dean Sorenson) and
This Land is Your Land. Music for the songs and rehearsal tracks are available here. Choir members will be given a commemorative T shirt to wear that night. They are asked to wear black pants or jeans and black shoes. |
The schedule
that night will be as follows: 4:00pm-5:15pm rehearsal on the State Capitol steps with Philip Brunelle and the U of M Jazz Band 5:15pm-6:30pm break for dinner 6:30pm Assemble 6:58pm Program begins 8:30pm Program ends- the choir portion of the program will be over by 7:45pm 8:45pm Fireworks over the State Capitol |
